Privacy policy
Effective October 21, 2026 · ARQ Labs LLCWho we are
Mapsy: Game Maps & Navigation is provided by ARQ Labs LLC. This policy describes information used by Mapsy, rather than other ARQ products. For privacy questions or requests, email team@tryarq.com.
Location, maps and directions
With your permission, Mapsy uses your location to show your position, find nearby places and provide directions. During an active trip, location may continue in the background. Mapbox processes map requests, search queries, route origins and destinations, location, and associated device and network information needed to deliver maps and navigation. You can change location permission in iOS Settings. Browsing does not require continuous location access; live navigation needs a usable location signal.
Accounts and saved places
Apple, Google or email sign-in is handled through Supabase. We receive the account identifiers and email information provided by your sign-in method. Your account can store Home, Work, favorites, place labels, addresses, coordinates and synchronization metadata. Guest places are uploaded when you choose to add them to your account. Authentication credentials are stored in the device Keychain. Signing out does not delete your cloud account.
Information on your device
Mapsy stores recent searches, map preferences and local saved-place caches on your device. Settings provides controls for history and saved places. If you export or share data, the destination you choose handles that copy under its own practices.
Voice search
When you grant microphone and speech-recognition permission and start voice search, Apple’s Speech services process audio and may use Apple’s servers. The resulting place query is used for search. Mapsy does not save an audio recording to an ARQ server. You can type instead or turn off these permissions in iOS Settings.
Subscriptions
Apple processes purchases and billing. Mapsy reads verified transaction and subscription-status information to determine access to Mapsy Plus. We do not receive your complete payment-card details. Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings. Deleting your Mapsy account does not cancel an Apple subscription.
How information is used and shared
Information is used to provide maps, directions, sign-in, saved-place synchronization, subscription access and support, and to protect the service. Supabase provides authentication and cloud storage; Resend delivers sign-in emails; Mapbox supplies maps, search and navigation; Apple and Google provide their respective sign-in services; PostHog provides optional Mapsy usage analytics. Providers may process information outside your state or country. We may also disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect legal rights or the security of the service. Mapsy does not include third-party advertising placements.
Optional Mapsy analytics and onboarding recordings
Mapsy uses PostHog to understand app opens, screens visited, onboarding progress, world and plan selections, sign-in outcomes, subscription purchase and restore outcomes, and navigation starts and stops. Events include a random installation identifier, timestamps, app/device/operating-system information, and limited categories such as screen, world, plan and result.
If you separately choose “Allow recordings” or enable “Share onboarding recordings” in Settings, PostHog also receives sampled visual recordings and taps from the welcome and membership screens. A visible recording indicator lets you stop recording. Street-level map content is masked; decorative globe artwork may be visible. World selection, account, sign-in, location entry, system payment, search and navigation screens are excluded from visual recording. Recording does not include audio, camera footage, or other apps. These diagnostic replays are sampled screenshots, not full-frame-rate videos.
We do not send PostHog your account email or ID, search text, saved places, route addresses, precise coordinates or payment details. Network and console recording are disabled. We disable IP-based geolocation enrichment; network requests still expose an IP address to the receiving service. PostHog processes this information in its US Cloud service to help us improve Mapsy, not for advertising tracking.
You can stop future optional Mapsy analytics with “Share Mapsy usage data” in Settings → Privacy & data. Recordings require separate permission and can be turned off there independently. Turning either option off does not remove data already received. Signing out resets the app’s analytics identifier. Because this data is not attached to your Mapsy account, deleting that account does not automatically locate or delete past analytics or replays; contact team@tryarq.com with privacy requests.
Mapbox usage data
Mapsy includes a “Share Mapbox usage data” control in Settings. Turning off optional usage reporting does not stop requests needed for maps, search or routes. Mapbox’s policy explains its handling of location and usage information. See https://www.mapbox.com/legal/privacy and https://www.mapbox.com/telemetry.
Retention and deletion
Account and cloud saved-place information is retained while your account is active so we can provide sign-in and synchronization. You can request deletion through Settings → Account & places; identity verification protects this action. Successful deletion removes the account and associated places from the active Mapsy database. Deleted-place synchronization records may remain until account deletion to prevent an offline device from restoring a removed place. Provider operational logs and any backups follow separate retention schedules and may not disappear immediately. We may retain information needed to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes or protect the service. Copies you exported or shared elsewhere are not removed by deleting your account.
Your choices and privacy requests
You can manage device permissions, clear recent searches, manage or export saved places, change optional Mapsy and Mapbox usage reporting, separately allow or stop onboarding recordings, sign out, and delete your account. Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of personal information, or object to or restrict certain processing. Email team@tryarq.com to make a request or appeal a response. We may need to verify your identity and will respond as required by applicable law. Where processing depends on consent, you can withdraw consent through the relevant permission or setting.
Children
Mapsy is a general-audience navigation app and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, contact team@tryarq.com so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Updates
We will update this page and its effective date when our practices change. We will provide additional notice where required.
